Backend Engineer

Deliberately.ai is seeking a Backend Engineer to join the team; As an early technical leader on our team, you’ll have a front-row seat in defining our technology stack and engineering best practices.

We’re building a cutting-edge platform that leverages AWS (including ECS), AI/LLMs, and a modern frontend approach (using HTMX). As one of our first engineering hires, you’ll be working closely with our Infrastructure and AI teams to design, build, and maintain the core services that power our product—ranging from database interaction(Postgres, Neo4j) to messaging (RabbitMQ), and AI integration. We operate in a mostly remote environment for now.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize data models, queries, etc. in Postgres and Neo4j.

• Integrate RabbitMQ for asynchronous job processing, ensuring reliability and scalability.

• Collaborate with the AI Engineer to support LLM-driven features (prompting, inference, data flow) within our backend services.

• Work alongside our Infrastructure Engineer to handle AWS-based deployments (ECS, EC2, S3, etc.), CI/CD pipelines, and observability.

• Identify bottlenecks, optimize services for speed and scalability, and enforce best practices for data protection and security.

Qualifications:

• Experience crafting efficient SQL queries, schema design, and query optimization.

• Familiarity with RabbitMQ or a comparable queueing system (Kafka, Redis, etc.).

• Comfortable building production-grade services in one or more backend languages (preferably python + go/rust)

• Basic knowledge of AWS (ECS, EC2, S3) for hosting and managing backend workloads.

• Strong communication skills for working in a cross-functional, startup environment (remote-first with occasional in-office days).

Nice to have:

• Hands-on experience with Neo4j or other graph databases.• Familiarity with front-end integration (HTMX or comparable frameworks) to understand full-stack workflows.
